The Civil Wedding

Photo: Luxemburger Wort / Wort.lu

They are married!! This afternoon Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy were civilly married in a civil ceremony at the Town Hall. We haven't seen video footage of the wedding yet but over at Wort you can listen to the audio of the wedding. It was a very sweet touch that Guillaume said "Oui" (in French), while his wife Princess Stéphanie said "Jo" (in Luxembourgish). Mayor Xavier Bettel conducted the ceremony in both Luxembourgish and French.

Present for the civil wedding were Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Prince Félix, Prince Louis, Princess Tessy, Princess Alexandra and Prince Sébastien. Stéphanie's father the Count de Lannoy as well as many of her siblings and siblings-in-law were also present.

Before and after the wedding Guillaume and Stéphanie as well as their family made their way from the palais to the Town Hall by foot. Along the way Stéphanie and Guillaume greeted the onlookers tirelessly: Princess Stéphanie is a pro at working the crowd. Kisses, hugs, petting dogs... I'm certain that she'll be a great asset to the Grand Ducal Family. Also, Stéphanie and Guillaume seemed very much at ease which each other which was lovely to see.
